Tattoo Aftercare
First 24 Hours
Leave your bandage on as directed by your artist. Keep the area clean and avoid touching it with dirty hands.
If you were given a second-skin bandage (Saniderm/Tegaderm), follow your artist’s timing instructions.
Cleaning & Washing
Wash your tattoo 2–3 times per day with lukewarm water and a gentle, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel (don’t rub).
Moisturizing
After cleaning and drying, apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion/aftercare ointment. Too much product can cause irritation.
What to Avoid While Healing
For at least 2–3 weeks:
- No pools, hot tubs, lakes, or soaking baths (showers only)
- No direct sunlight or tanning
- No heavy sweating on fresh tattoos (especially first 3–5 days)
- Do not pick, scratch, or peel flaking skin
Normal Healing Signs
Redness, mild swelling, tenderness, flaking/peeling, and itching are normal during healing. Let it peel naturally.
